Which type of beer packaging—bottled, canned, or kegged—is best suited for a party?

Which type of beer packaging—bottled, canned, or kegged—is best suited for a party?
Glass bottles have narrow, elongated openings, which make it easier to pour beer into a glass without creating excessive foam. Moreover, among these materials, glass boasts the most stable molecular structure and the densest texture, allowing it to preserve the carbon dioxide in the beer more effectively. As a result, when you drink from a glass bottle, you’re likely to enjoy a satisfying, refreshing burp afterward. Additionally, glass bottles can withstand higher pressure compared to other materials, meaning more carbon dioxide can be infused—enhancing the beer’s flavor and delivering an even better drinking experience.
Canned beer offers the best protection from light. This is because prolonged exposure to intense light can cause beer to develop an unpleasant, off-putting odor, leading to a less-than-pleasant drinking experience. Additionally, even when bottled beer is sealed tightly at the neck and cap, there’s always some tiny gap through which air can gradually seep in. In contrast, canned beer boasts superior sealing, helping to preserve its freshness—and ultimately delivering the most enjoyable taste possible.
Besides bottles and cans, kegs and plastic bottles are also common packaging options. Kegged beer is one of the many ways beer is packaged—typically used for larger gatherings or group meals—and its wooden packaging makes it ideal for single-use consumption. Once opened, though, the beer tends to lose its carbonation more quickly if not finished right away, so it’s best enjoyed on the day it’s tapped.
Plastic bottles are made from PET material, which offers the poorest stability—leading to significant carbon dioxide loss—and results in the least enjoyable taste compared to the other options. Additionally, substances like alcohol in beer can interact with organic compounds in plastic bottles, potentially causing harmful contaminants to leach into the beer.

The most important thing is to have a great time at the party—just don’t overdo it with the drinks!
