[Good News] Both the Center and the Research Institute have successfully been selected as Tianjin's Innovative SMEs for 2022.

Recently, the official website of the Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology released the list of Tianjin's innovative SMEs for 2022. The China Packaging Research & Testing Center (hereinafter referred to as the Center) and the China Packaging Research Institute Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as the Institute) successfully passed the review and were officially recognized as Tianjin's innovative SMEs for 2022.
Over the years, the center has leveraged its deep expertise in the packaging testing industry to establish itself as an innovative and dynamic service platform. Its core business areas encompass physical, chemical, and microbiological performance testing for food packaging, pharmaceutical packaging, industrial product packaging, as well as safety assessments for transportation packaging—services that are trusted by numerous Fortune 500 companies, which have become the center’s steadfast clients.
The research institute is a technology-driven company specializing in the R&D and industrialization of packaging technologies, dedicated to advancing the commercial application of cutting-edge packaging solutions—both internationally and domestically.

The center, anchored by academicians leading its laboratories and a postdoctoral research workstation, has brought together a large team of high-caliber researchers, actively promoting scientific exploration in the packaging field as well as contributing to the development of national and industry standards. To date, it has spearheaded the completion of over 100 national, industry, local, and group standards in the packaging sector—among them, the very first group standard established for the packaging industry, along with a series of standards specifically tailored for express delivery and e-commerce shipping packaging.

The center boasts internationally recognized third-party inspection and testing qualifications, backed by advanced equipment—including over 400 laboratory instruments and four dedicated testing labs—enabling us to deliver impartial, scientifically sound, and authoritative inspection and testing reports to our clients. Over the years, we’ve accumulated more than 200 intellectual property assets, including software copyrights, utility model patents, design patents, and invention patents.

In addition to steadily expanding their presence in the domestic market, the center and the research institute have also established friendly and open communication channels with leading international packaging organizations. Through organizing academic conferences, trade shows, and supply-demand matchmaking events, they create a dynamic platform for exchanging technical knowledge and industry insights, fostering robust technology and information sharing both domestically and internationally.

As a third-party testing organization officially approved by the State Council in 1988 to provide services to the public, the center specializes in packaging technology research, development, and inspection and testing. In addition to fulfilling the national mandates of conducting packaging-related scientific research and quality-testing tasks for packaged products, the center also undertakes socially beneficial activities such as training programs, international exchanges, and regular free public access events—welcoming approximately 200 to 300 visitors annually.

Currently, the center and its research institute serve as educational internship bases for packaging programs at numerous universities across China, including Tianjin University of Science & Technology, Tianjin University of Commerce, Jilin University, Northeast Forestry University, Shaanxi University of Science and Technology, and others. Several of the center's leading technical experts have been appointed by these universities as part-time professors and master’s thesis advisors, making an irreplaceable contribution to nurturing talent in China’s packaging technology field.
