ISTA
While diligently expanding its own business, the China Packaging Research and Testing Center has leveraged its influence in the packaging industry and testing field to take on a significant role in advancing technological development and innovation within the packaging sector. In 2002, the center joined the International Safe Transit Association (ISTA) as a member and has since become one of ISTA’s most active Chinese affiliates. Founded in 1948 and headquartered in the United States, ISTA initially began as the National Transportation Safety Council (NTSC). Over time, the association grew steadily and gained considerable prominence not only in the U.S. but also across global markets and regions, prompting it to officially change its name to the International Safe Transit Association in the 1980s. Today, ISTA boasts over 800 members from diverse sectors, including manufacturing, logistics, and laboratories—among them many Fortune 500 companies such as Microsoft, Procter & Gamble, UPS, FedEx, HP, and GE. ISTA’s leadership in the international transport packaging arena is firmly established through its renowned ISTA Series Transport Packaging Test Standards, the Transit Tested certification mark, CPLP accreditation, and extensive technical and informational exchanges. As the center’s influence within the association continues to grow, ISTA has recognized its pivotal role in shaping the packaging landscape in China. To further support ISTA’s regional development in the country, the center has hosted the annual ISTA conference in China every autumn since 2006—a key event that complements ISTA’s flagship meetings held earlier in the year in the U.S. By organizing this prestigious gathering, the center has played a vital role in helping domestic companies stay abreast of cutting-edge international transport packaging technologies and standards, while fostering valuable partnerships with leading global enterprises in the field of packaging innovation.
